Plastic waste remains one of the clearest sustainability challenges in Oman and across the region. Manual sorting is time-consuming, costly, and error-prone. Waste that could be recovered ends up unrecycled. That creates a chain reaction: environmental damage, lost material value, and operational inefficiency.

Env.ai started with one simple question:
Can AI make recycling easier to understand, easier to sort, and easier to act on?
That question stayed with me because the problem is not abstract. It is real, visible, and frustratingly inefficient. Sorting is manual, slow, expensive, and disconnected from the tools people actually use every day. What made Env.ai meaningful was that it was never just an AI experiment. It was an attempt to connect technology with a real environmental challenge affecting businesses, recycling systems, and communities.
A smart bin that recognizes waste, identifies the material, and directs it into the correct slot automatically. The system was designed to feel effortless for the user while being intelligent and efficient behind the scenes. It runs on affordable hardware, including Custom Hardware, so it stays practical in places where cost matters. Fast recognition, low-cost operation, and a clear path toward deployment.

Env.ai became part of a broader journey of building, presenting, and representing Oman through innovation. Through this project I represented Oman at the London International Youth Science Forum 2025 (LIYSF), presenting Env.ai to an international audience of 400+ young scientists from 90+ countries. Env.ai also placed 1st at the UTAS Engineering Bash, 2nd at the South Al-Sharqiya Hackathon, and 2nd in the Entrepreneurship Hackathon, and was a finalist at the Qimam "Creators of Ideas" competition.
